*BASICS*
Name: Euclid
Age:1920 21
Class: Commoner
Country: Dentoria
Family: Father (Albert) / Mother (Lynsey), 2 older brothers (Daniel and Evan)
Blood Type: A
Language: Trade, Dentorian, High Dentorian, Megam, Atsirian, Korin,
Kilian. Fluent in each, but rougher in Megam, Kilian, and Atsirian
handwriting (sloppy as hell, barely readable), probably tripped up by
some slang and rarer words of the languages other than Trade and Dentorian.
Birthdate: September 16th
*HISTORY*
Euclid is the fourth generation of a servant family to the Lord and Lady
of Temair. His father is the personal assistant to Lady Eliza herself,
handling any errands that might need run or any secretarial work that
doesn't involve political matters, just as his Grandfather did, and his
Great-grandfather. The women of his family tend to work in the kitchens
preparing meals for the household and it's servants. His older brothers
work under their father, learning his job and helping him with larger
projects. Euclid however, was more interested in reading, and spent
most of his time hiding in the Manor's library. This wasn't necessarily
by choice, even though it was his favorite place to hang out when he had
free time.
Originally Euclid worked with his father and brothers, but despite his
attention to organization and detail he would constantly mess things up
completely on accident. From knocking stacks of paper or scrolls from
their neat piles all over the floor, to spilling his drink on them, to
simply losing track of his assigned project and letting his mind
wander. He would often be caught getting side-tracked in the library
having completely forgotten what he was sent there to get. The one point
of this job that he excelled at was recalling just about any information
he'd seen in any documents he had worked with. There were few documents
that crossed his path that he couldn't read, as his reading habits drove
him to learn most of the common languages of Eire.
After having infuriated Lady Eliza, as well as embarrassed his father
and older brothers, one too many times he was sent to work with his
mother in the kitchens. Unfortunately his luck was much worse with his
sorry attempts at cooking. Euclid would become engrossed in a book and
forget about the meal he was cooking, and therefore burning it to a
crisp. He even set the kitchen on fire on multiple occasions, though
fortunately no real damage was ever dealt. Having ruined one too many
meals, he was left to handle the dishes instead. Once again he didn't
do such a good job, breaking dishes left and right. Euclid would also
let the dishes pile up too much while focusing his attentions on
reading, driving the other kitchen help mad as they never had clean
dishes to work with.
Euclid's linguistics are mostly self-taught, but he sometimes got help
from others around the Manor if there was something he couldn't manage
on his own, which was not often. No matter how much he read, his thirst
for knowledge was never satisfied. He became well known throughout the
manor as the clumsy bookworm, as he constantly walked into people in the
halls while reading.
It didn't take long for enough complaints about Euclid to reach Lady
Eliza that she had to intervene or lose some of her best help. One
night she confronted his father, asking his opinion on what could be
done with the boy to get him out of everyone's hair, and that she was
tempted to kick the kid out of the Manor to fend for himself. Though
Euclid's father had no answer to their dilemma, he did assure Eliza that
Euclid was an extremely bright kid, despite his obvious short-comings,
and that it wouldn't be right to just send him off on his own.
Intrigued, Eliza decided to test Euclid a bit. She knew he was a
bookworm, but she never paid enough attention to him to know what
exactly he was reading.
Over the next few weeks she subtlety drilled him for any knowledge he
might have. She had Euclid's father bring him back to work training in
secretarial work again, so that she would have more chances to study the
boy. One of her favorite tests involved requesting he take dictation
for her, and randomly slipping into a different language to see how he
would handle it. The only languages that she knew which tripped him up
were Old and Old High Dentorian, though he did seem to recognize a
handful of words even in those. She would also have Euclid's father
give him complicated forms that "needed to be filled out" to see if he
could handle them. After a few weeks of having to deal with Euclid's
scattered attention span and clumsiness, she was ready to have him sent
off to Rayla Academy, where he might get the stimulation he needs
Eliza first offered the idea of scholarship to the prestigious school to
his parents, who originally didn't think they were deserving of such a
gift. Reassuring them that Rayla Academy would be the best place for
their son, the two finally agreed as the alternatives were worse than
accepting such a great favor from their Liege, and that he would most
likely be able to repay his debt upon graduation working for House
Temair. Upon hearing the news, Euclid was ecstatic, but first he had to
prepare for the difficult entrance exam. He spent just about every
waking moment until exam day studying everything he might possibly have
to know. When the exam finally came, he breezed through it, Eliza
gladly gave him the scholarship and so began his career at the
prestigious school.
*PERSONALITY*
Euclid mostly keeps to himself. He's extremely quiet in his classes and
does no socializing before nor after. When classes are finished for the
day he retires to his room or the school library. Most of the rest of
the school knows him, or has heard about him, though he's not a popular
person. The other students often tease him, either because he's a
simple commoner, because of his name, or merely because they're bored
enough to just start making things up. While not a teacher's pet, he's
not one to go against the rules or do anything that might get him in
trouble. After all he gets in enough completely on accident.
He's rarely seen without his nose in a book, and almost never talks.
When he does, it's usually to contradict whatever discussion is taking
place with some random fact, or to cite school policy on matters where
someone may potentially break them. When it comes to the other students,
he has no backbone to stand up for himself. Instead he tends to cave in
with whatever might be asked of him.
Euclid is also extremely accident prone, walking into people, walls,
random objects, dropping things, breaking things, and just about any
other thing you would expect of an incredibly clumsy individual. He is
extremely organized, so if he happens to drop papers and make a mess of
them he's very anal about making sure they're back in the right order.
This trait often causes him to be late for class, especially when
students decide to screw with him on purpose.
*APPEARANCE*
Euclid is rather short for a Dentorian, standing at a mere 5'7" and
weighs only 125 pounds. He has rather messy brown hair and brown eyes,
with a pair of large round glasses that clearly weren't made to fit his
face properly, as he constantly has to push them up the bridge of his
nose. Without his glasses he might as well be completely blind, thus
making him even more accident prone than he already is.
